Wild Kodiak Bear and her Three Cubs

In front of my eyes stood a female Kodiak bear walking in her natural habitat in early August 2012. This seemed too good to be true! While driving past the Bells Flats with my dad, in Kodiak, Alaska we spotted a female Kodiak Bear and I got very excited. Watching in silence, listening to the bear find her food, a head of a cub popped up, out of the tall grasses. Then two more appeared, and I couldn't believe that I was witnessing this firsthand, a family of the world's biggest bears walking around. They were catching salmon in their mouths from streams amongst the tall grasses in the Bells Flats. It was a memory I'll never forget. Kodiak, Alaska is such a serene environment, it's no wonder that these bears call it home.
